Majid Shati, born in Tehran in 1973, is an Iranian film editor, screenwriter, and director. He was also responsible for the initial editing of The Miracle of Banassan.

Shati earned his bachelor’s degree in Cinema, specializing in Film Editing, from the Faculty of Cinema and Theater at the University of Art. Throughout his professional career, he has worked extensively across television, feature films, documentaries, and short films.

His editing credits include television series such as Once Upon a Time, The Home, and Liberation; television films including Crime and Punishment, Now in a Future, and Green Melody; feature films such as The Emperor, Like a Story, and What Men Don’t Know About Women; documentaries including The Best Statue in the World, Living Wave, and The Coin Market from the Mint; as well as short films such as Chaos, Stillness After the Whisper, and Forgotten.

In addition to editing, Shati has worked in several other areas of filmmaking and production. His credits include screenwriting for television series such as The Fire Wall and If You Were Me; directing the short films Hands and When You Are Not Here; stage management for Mosque Kids; and producing Repeat of Love.

Shati is also an accomplished fiction writer. He has written more than one hundred short stories as well as a novella, with a number of his works published in Ettelaat-e Haftegi magazine.

His work has received recognition through awards and nominations at various Iranian film festivals. He was selected at the 3rd Kosar Film Festival for Chess Players and at the 4th Kosar Film Festival for Once Again. He was also nominated for Best Short Film Director for Once Again at the 28th Fajr Film Festival and for Best Short Film Director for The Game at the 11th Defense Film Festival.

Shati was further nominated for Best Documentary Editing for The Best Statue in the World at the 30th Fajr Film Festival, as well as for Best Editing for the same film at the Fajr Visual Arts Festival.
