Adel Memarnia, born in Khorramshahr in 1980, is the First Assistant Director and Director of Photography of The Miracle of Banassan.
Memarnia graduated in 2003 with a degree in Film Directing from the University of Art in Tehran. He also completed a one-year filmmaking program at the Iranian Youth Cinema Society in Bushehr in 1997. Throughout his career, he has worked on a wide range of projects as a documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, producer, and director.
His credits include working as an assistant director and still photographer on films such as An Umbrella for the Director and The Last Feather of the Eagle; serving as First Assistant Director and Production Planner on Like a Story; and working as First Assistant Director on Amitis.
As a director, Memarnia has made documentaries including Thirst, These Hands, and The Carob Borer. His cinematography credits include the documentaries Arash’s Last Arrow, The Best Statue in the World, and Towards the Light. He has also served as producer of the narrative film Warm Blood.
Memarnia has received recognition and awards at a number of Iranian film festivals. His achievements include First Place for Sound Recording at the Jam-e Jam Festival for the narrative film Autumn of the Leaves in 1997; Second Place at the International Phoenix Festival for directing and producing the music video Red Olive; selection of the documentary Moon Pill at the Resistance Film Festival in 2021; and Best Short Narrative Film of the Sacred Defense category for Warm Blood in 2022.
